[QUOTE="cpm9ball, post: 3472641, member: 24633"]A discussion in another thread reminded me of something that happened to me about 15 years ago.... At that time, members of the NGC Collectors Society were allowed to make an appointment to deliver their submissions in person at the old offices in Sarasota. Since I lived about 90 miles south of them, I used to take advantage of this so that my Mom and I could stop for lunch on St. Armand's Key on the return trip. Whenever my order was ready, I'd get a phone call from NGC to arrange an appointment so I could pick up the coins. First, I should explain that just off the lobby to the building are two small rooms that customers can use to complete their submission forms and/or check the finalized submissions that are returned to them. I was particularly anxious to get this order of 50+ Kennedy half dollars because it contained the one missing the clad layer on the reverse. I immediately began looking for it, and looking, and looking, and looking. It wasn't there! I called the customer service rep into the room and asked about it. She looked at my submission form, then at all of the slabs, before excusing herself to check on it. About 20-30 minutes passed when she came back and reported that it couldn't be found. Despite being visibly upset, she left again to "recruit" more employees to aid in the search. Another 30 minutes or so passed, and by this time the search group included customer service reps, security personnel, clerical staff and even graders. Success at last! It was finally found in the vault where it had been the whole time. You see, everyone was looking for a Kennedy half dollar, but no one expected to be looking for a copper coin.
