Also, here's a coin of Rudrasena I, probably named after the Hindu storm god, Rudra: Stay safe @Sallent, @Bing, and @ValiantKnight!
Ok Jupiter, time to get to conservatori-ing for our friends in Florida! May his 10 pack abs shield you from the storm! Seriously, for what it's worth, I'm thinking about you all down there!
Looks like our offerings are working! The latest modeling runs show Dorian turning-- now it's South Carolina's turn to scramble but if this morning it turns just a liiiiiitle more it will be a fish storm. (click for an extended animation, GFS, from Tropical Tidbits-- a great site for tracking and storm predictions) Now all you US southeast coasters need to go outside and blow hard to the east . The latest from the NHC is this - it seems dorian is veering more and more to the north and may miss South Florida and stay out to sea, at least it looks better for SWFL. Let us hope it stays that way! obviously, let us hope that folks further up the cost will be safe if it is headed their way...
Just to be on the safe side, I will also pray to Jupiter: Trajan sestertius - showing front of the Temple of Jupiter. Jupiter driving chariot.
Hopefully it will turn out ok. I can't image what it is like to be in a hurricane. If a wind is beyond your average breeze here in Holland, the entire nation (small, but still) is in a panic. here is a iovis:
Yep @TIF , it's working well. Guess Jupiter heard us after all. Now here's another offering to the big man himself to steer this storm further out to sea and away from any landmasses (including the Carolinas).
You guys do realize that if this works, if the storm goes elsewhere, appealing to the old gods for aid may result in a resurgence of Paganism throughout the land. Look for all those old Classical Revival banks to start sporting sacrificial altars in their lobbies and augurs doing a brisk business at the gambling parlors. Where are my old lituus and simpulum?
