(Yep- even the proof.) Thus I reckon I paid somewhere between 10 and 25 cents for each of them. And each has a catalog value of less than five bucks.</p><p><br /></p><p>So the <i>coins</i> themselves cost me practically nothing- and are technically <i>worth</i> practically nothing... but yet I went and spent nearly fifty bucks apiece to put them in PCGS slabs, in order to add them to my (all-slabbed) collection.</p><p><br /></p><p>Why? Because <b>both have sentimental ties to my childhood</b>. You see, when I was a kid, we lived in Tanzania in 1972, and the Bahamas in 1974.</p><p><br /></p><p>As I recall, you could buy a model airplane kit with a Tanzanian 5-shilingi piece like this in 1972- I used to get one of these coins a week for my first allowance. And one of these Bahamian 10-cent pieces would buy a comic book back in '74, when we were living aboard a trimaran sailboat in Nassau.</p><p><br /></p><p>So slabbing these made no sense from a purely economic standpoint, but all the sense in the world from a sentimental one.[/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
