Thoughts on this 1884-O Morgan?

    Here is the other 1884-O that had BU. Attacked by a loose staple I'm assuming, not very happy about it.

    Ouch. That sucks. IMO something has altered the surfaces of both. It's just too much light wear overall to be a weak strike. On both examples there's a significant lack of definition in the hair and dimples of the cotton boles. Maybe it was an over dipping but I think a little fine polishing too. Just mho. That staple attack is gnarly though. Imagine if the was an 89cc, 94p or 93s and hear the screams of horror play in your mind

    Staples are the enemy. This is why all my half dollars and dollars go into Whitman plastic 2x2's. The coins are too thick for cardboard/ mylar window 2x2's. :blackeye:

    Wow, that is a seriously damaged coin. Stapled flips are the enemy of nice coins everywhere. It should be outlawed.

    Yes, I made sure it wasn't a key date and took a deep breath. Then worried it might be a rare VAM, but that might help it too. Oh well :)

    None of the "very far date" 84o's are list vams
