Thoughts on this 1876 Hamburg 5 Mark

    Picked this up pretty cheap...
    The diameter and weights are correct, but there is some weird stuff going on with this coin.

    Real, fake, Mint errors, PMD ???

    It was in some sorta housing like a bezel or necklace? Reminds me of lead soder on gold coins. A 2 prong clamp maybe.

    The ding on the egde near the date looks like it got nicked by a bullet.
    Metal displacement without removal.
    No equal damage on opposite side.

    It looks real to me, and beat up, a soiled-dove of a coin, having seen better days but still retaining hints of its former glory.
