Finding a toned one is near impossible though. That's what I'm working on is a toned type registry set.
Nicely toned Peace dollars are not common and command a strong premium. I think yours might even get a 63 - I've seen some pretty beat up 63s lately. If it were mine...into the Dansco!
Try to piggyback on an authorized dealer's or other collector's submission. I personally would leave it alone. The old ANACS holders are sought after by some collectors.
Looks the same as other 22's in MS-62. I'm putting together a PCGS MS-64 set. It's expensive but I want it. Only 4 to go. Given that there is a market for "older" holders and the cost to cross, I'd leave it be. It looks great for the grade in it's current holder. Why mess with it?
I think I'll take the advise of the group and keep this in the holder. I'll just have to keep my eye out for another 1921 Peace Dollar that's toned in an NGC holder. Here's the pics I took of it last night. She sure is a looker!
I agree with the toning as the last pics really show it off , but I can't agree with an AU as I see no wear just the usual weak strike for the date . There is some slight (very slight) stacking rub , ( welcome to the world of market grading ) , but the key is the almost pristine fields , hardly any hits and no circulation hits that I can see . ANACS got this right in my opinion and they usually do in these old holders .
