Research requires an unbiased assessment, so since we all want to find that new variety and retire, it's best to look at it from the point of view that it is not what you think it is, until you can prove it is. Look for things your find doesn't have that would contradict your belief, don't look for things only to vindicate what you believe. Learn the difference between DD vs MD/SD, PMD vs ME, and even DD vs Longacre's Doubling, which is just a very short list of things that are possible. </p><p><br /></p><p>So, read, compare, ask, and educate yourself, and become an expert on what interests you. Then you can say 'eureka!'. But until then, you (or I, or anyone) can look at any coin and find something that can be misinterpreted, only causing disappointment and potential embarrassment.
