This thread really is turning into the Jerry Springer Show, because it has crossed the line into questioning and attacking a person's character. I was guilty of contributing to this in an earlier posting, and after the seller provided a good faith explanation that had a ring of truth to it, I felt the need to apologize. Only he truly knows what his intentions were, so it is not up to us to judge motives. He did respond with some profanity, but if I discovered a thread about me on a public forum with "scumbag" in the title, I could see myself responding in a less than Christian manner.

Since this forum is intended to be educational, I would say that it offers a good lesson to all of us when it comes to Ebay listing practices. When a listing for whatever reason contains incomplete information about the items being sold, it is human nature to assume that the seller has something to hide. Poor photos of just one item can be construed as misleading, and when the listing contains multiple items without even accurate quantities, there's no telling what people will suspect even if the seller has good intentions. So even though it is not my right to question Jim's character, I still wouldn't bid on his listing, and it makes me want to be as accurate as possible in my own listings to reduce risk for both the buyer and the seller.

If you can't back up what you are saying with facts, I see no reason to trust you or what you have said. Others have ask you for facts as well and you ignore the request. Also keep in mind that Jim is now a member here and you are breaking the rules by insulting him.

I'll predict the guy who won the auction is ecstatic that the listing was poisoned. He easily scored the silver for less than melt, and all the straight up money and things are icing on the cake. Well done planman2014. You wouldn't happen to be the winning bidder would you?

I think some fine print was missed along the lines... I'll recap.

    [quote from seller]
"I just let the auction end, and I emailed the high bidder and told him that the description was horribly inaccurate, he wasn't getting 22 pounds of silver, and the lists I posted were completely inaccurate. He said he doesn't mind and he knows that he is taking a chance. He's already sent a Paypal for the full amount, so instead of trying to start again from scratch I'm just taking the easy low stress way out and I'm gonna send it to him. Sorry if everyone thought I was a scammer, I'm not, just a newbie coin seller."

"I've told the purchaser he's getting 29 silver dollars and 9 of those are Eisenhowers and he's fine with that. I gave him multiple opportunities to back out and have me void the auction and refund his money, but he wants to go forward. So that's all I can do."

The seller told the high bidder what exactly they are getting. And the buyer continued, payed through paypal, and the seller shipped.

The silver comes to about half of the total purchase, according to what's said earlier. That's if all the Morgan's are common. If some rares are included, then it's actually decent.

Look at the photos. And his corrected statements. Do the math. It is my understanding everything in the photos was included. (or seller has some real bad news coming) The seller's big fault was not taking the time to make a simple inventory. He didn't know what he had and sold low. If any of the coins turned out to be worthwhile that is all gravy on top. That buyer has a lot of transactions under his belt. I wonder if he is a member here?

Especially to the OP but something tells me he hasn't learned anything at all and still wants to bang his head against the wall. banghead.gif That's unfortunate but you gotta realize when you come on a public forum and attack and smear somebody who nobody knows, you have made yourself a target. If you're ever gonna smear somebody, you better have proof in hand b/c on the internet if you don't have proof, it didn't happen. It's that simple.

I don't think anyone on here would have bidded on that listing. That's another assumption made by the OP. He thought he was saving somebody here from bidding on that terribly written ad and he wasn't. laughhard.gif

Maybe I'm missing it because I can't find any conclusive lists. Based on what I'm seeing the buyer MAY have gotten silver below spot, but there is also a good chance he did not. (I do see the 29 silver dollars, but that doesn't put the lot below melt)
