I attempted to do that not long ago with a listed PCGS 1921 MS66. I got outbid by a couple of dollars. :p I looked at the seller's history for all sales and it was a wall of shame. Later, the seller messaged me and said the buyer had returned it, did I want to buy at my bid? I replied no. I then checked the seller's ratings and the winner had commented that the image was stolen from another listing, and the seller tried to excuse the fraud by stating "it was a stock photo".:rolleyes:

No, that's the sort of policy violation that eBay does act on promptly (because it interferes with their revenue stream). It's a quick way to lose your account.

Pretty sure they'd say "customer has decided to keep the coin, no refund, case closed."

I've had it go both ways - I've had eBay tell me not to return a fake coin, and I've had them issue a label for me to return the coin at no cost to myself. But this was all a number of years ago, and I'm sure things are different now.

Unbelievable that at least a half dozen people have reported this one item with no success. My message from the flea.........

Thanks again for reporting the listing(s) you found.

    What happened:
We looked into your report and didn’t find the listing to be in violation of our policy. This determination was made using automation or artificial intelligence.

If you reported content that isn’t listed below, we’ll send a separate email once we’ve made a decision.

eBay only cares about the listing, how the item is presented. They don’t care if it’s fake or not. That is why I don’t shop on eBay.

Maybe we are going about this in the wrong way. Maybe someone new should report it in a "non-conforming acceptable grading slab".......since it's not in a PCGS holder.:p

I just did this anyway. Trademark infringement category selected, "not in an original PCGS grading slab". Let's see how the fleaBay bots handle that one.

    Noted also:
On Jun-03-25 at 11:53:34 PDT, seller added the following information: (about 4pm EST)

I’m not a dealer or an appraiser, I bought it from an individual as is and that’s the way I will sell it!

Seller must be getting flack from eBay, or comments from the flea gallery.

Well my last tactic didn't work either. They might as well respond with "we are getting our cut, we don't GAF about no fake coins!"

I'm not a FeeBay user, so I can't report this. However, I was trying to think of another way to raise the red flag to the seriousness of this violation to the FeeBay administration.

What about someone reporting to FeeBay that this coin was being reported to the US Secret Service and the USPS as the counterfeit coin that it is? Obviously someone is transacting a known fraudulent, misrepresented, not properly marked 'COPY', US coin, and using the US mail service as the means of transporting it.

Maybe that approach will raise their hackles.

It literally doubled since. $3264 for a fake coin so far and there’s nothing that can be done about it. Seller doesn’t accept returns either (go figure). I won’t go as far as to avoid eBay but I definitely would not buy from a seller as low rated as this one and even if I were getting ready to buy from a reputable seller, I’m making sure I have any and all concerns taken care of by asking here first. Learned that lesson after buying the 3 Peace Dollars listed as BU with stock photos that really weren’t BU.
Fool me once and that’s all it take for me.

It hammered for 3200 and change.:muted: I had to edit this. I orginally saw another coin that sold for 13k and made a posting error.
