Only particle SN#s ?.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1861-20-Gol...558753?hash=item3d1ee88061:g:3VAAAOSwgY9Xe6~3
I have seen the TPG's hose it up before and the guy has 100% good feedback. Not sure what to think but not worth the risk either.
I printed it out and scanned it with an Android barcode reading app. It gave the number "01893258003412848010". Since NGC numbers are shorter, I used the last 10 digits ("3412848-010"). That led me to this page: https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/3412848010/ Call me a newbie, but it doesn't look like the same coin. If it is a fake, it's almost as if they tried to copy the contact marks and imperfections on the real coin. And the color on the eBay coin is all wrong, isn't it? Or is it just different lighting? But that doesn't explain the messed up label...
The eBay picture is much better than the NGC picture, which looks like a flatbed scan. Lighting can hide some marks and reveal others. It looks like a match based on the marks that are in common. The reverse NGC picture is almost useless, but the tick at the bottom of the lower left scroll (above the W) looks like a match, too.
Definitely fake or it's been photo-shopped. There is no way a photo at even the horrible angle of the eBay shot would lay the bar code over the cert #.
I agree, in my opinion the color should not be cameo in one light, but matte and flat in another light!
Doug: Nice work on the comparative markup. I would be inclined to say it's the same coin, but hiding the number raises suspicions. Maybe they don't want buyers to make the same comparison Doug did.
Sorry I couldn't get them lined up better... What jumps out at me: 1) Prongs on holder appear to be different 2) Date font seems to be different 3) Denticles also do not appear to be the same
Two different pics taken with two different techniques and cameras of varying capability; I see them as the same coin rather conclusively. Only the thing with the label inspires caution.
