I had so much fun working on that writeup and diorama. The photograph background and drink umbrellas were ruined by the hurricanes but the shopping cart, Bart Simpson, and My Little Ponies survived. Once repairs and such are finished the diorama will be reinstalled on a shelf in my entryway. An iconic post here on CT, which partly inspired my interest in Elagabalus. I never tire of seeing that coin!

Wherever the inspiration came for on that, bravo! I get an ear to ear smile everytime I see that diorama
I "read" the comic in Coins Weekly first and my thoughts went to TIF's my little pony quadriga also! I thought the article "Repatriate or Not to Repatriate: That is the Question" was an interesting read also. The question of who should be able to own what is an interesting question. http://www.coinsweekly.com/en/News/...+24.05.2018&newsletter=CoinsWeekly+24.05.2018
I recently picked up an Invictvs Sacerdos horned denar... It's currently in transit... No fancy rock and horses, but still an iconic boy emperor, er, priest, er, sun god, er, whatever, coin.
No horns, rocks or little ponies but it is the boy, god, what ev...... It is Fides though that counts right? Elagabalus 218-222, Denarius, 2.89g: Obv: Laureate bust of Elagabalus right "IMP ANTONINVS AVG" Rev: Fides standing left, head right, holding vexillum and standard "FIDES MILITVM". RSC 38a.
Your Elagabalus may not have a horn, but better no horn than an underwhelming horn. My Elagabalus suffers from Tiny Horn Syndrome, also known as Erectile Horn Dysfunction. My guess is that the celator responsible for this was sent on a one way vacation to the silver mines of Hispania.
I'm tempted to make a joke about that, but if I did the moderators would probably send me to join the celator on a one way trip to the mines of Hispania. Oh well, that's the price we pay for the "Family Friendly" label.
Love the diorama. I'm tempted to show it to my kids, but I think they will just think Dad's "little red choo-choo has gone around the bend" and try to have me committed.
