WoWiE! You trying to bring me to the dark side?? I LOVE ugly...and that man is UGGGLY!! Seriously cool coin homie 65 years! I'd say that must be a record but of course good ol Pepi II was Pharaoh for 94 years (he picked up the duel cap at the age of 4. And lived around 4 thousand years before your boy Leopold!!!!)!
Hey, I've got a "3 spot"! I dig early modern coin up to the early 19th century. HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE, LEOPOLD I, AR 3 KREUZER The history behind the coins interests me as much as the coins themselves, and this Leopold I dude was a pretty interesting cat. Here is a picture of him going to a Halloween party dressed as Cher.
...so yeah, between the amazingly unfortunate (due to generations of inbreeding) face and portrait, the cool style, as well as Frank Robinson giving me a screaming deal; I have a "Hogsmouth" of my own! Leopold I (TheHogsmouth) 3 Kr Silesia 1700 F+ Obv: Laureate portrait facing right in an inner circle, value in a frame below the bust. Lettering: LEOPOLDVS D G R I S (3) A G H B REX Rev: Crowned double headed imperial eagle in an inner cirlce. Mint mark below in legend, date divided above.Lettering: ARCHID AVS (CB) DVX BVR SIL date Thanks for the AWESOME inspiration @ominus1
Ryro has resurrected a September thread I'd not seen. Here is a Hungary 1665 Leopold Quarter Thaler: Poor Leopold. His family tree didn't have many branches. Not only is this coin NOT ancient, it is also in a SLAB. Wow, NOT ancient and in a SLAB posted in this forum. I may get banned for this eh? The slab label incorrectly describes this coin as a half Thaler. The cool coin is about 31 mm. One Thaler amounts to 60 Kreuzers. 15 Kreuzers (XV) is 1/4 Thaler.
I thought it was a man in a red shirt with a brown paper bag on his head. On the topic, I’ve been meaning to get a 15 Kreuzer.
very nice coins of Leopold ein peeps! i concur these coins are much collectible for the "brutally realistic" portraits.
One of a few?!?! Tell more! It looks simply amazing. Where and when is it (are they) from? And how did you acquire those bad boys?!
