What do I hate? Well, you've all presented some fairly good ones, but I think mine takes on a much more severe case of anti-numismaticism:

~Those people who try to pass off a 1953 Uruguayan 92.5 cent piece as a Paraguayan 91.3 cent piece! I mean, seriously, what is up with that? All the llamas in Peru are having to switch over their currency from the Canadian Servior currency to the Orange Leprechaun Gold Standard! That just makes me so mad because now I can't find an Unobtainium Nickel anywhere in Willy Wonka's Factory! The nerve!

    Hate Receiving Defective Proof Sets

Every year, I religiously order a Silver US Proof Set and I always have problems. The sets always come with either spots on some coins, scratches or abrasions on some coins or even cracks in the protective case. The U.S. Mint claims that each set is inspected but this is nonsense. It is a chore re-packaging and sending it back to the US Mint; not to mention the cost of sending by insured mail. Then comes the best part; they claim they ran-out of sets and it's on backorder. I then must wait another several months for a replacement. Often, the replacement is as bad or worse than the original. Shame on the U.S. Mint.

Almost forgot...I need to add CCAC for a number of reasons...

They stated that "Liberty" or some depiction of her is "too political" for future US bullion coins.

This is the same group who pushed for Susan B.'s ugly mug for the dollar coin only to follow it up with a teenage native american with her kid on the golden dollar. Now they want to put ALL of the presidents on dollar coins along with their wives on gold bullion. Why don't they just put a horse's behind on our coin so we can all "kick it."

Instead of doing what's right and sticking to the high expectations Teddy Roosevelt set forth for US coins, they are set to destroy it and bend over to the politically correct crowd.

Does anybody have the guts to tell the CCAC off? I will...I not about to stick my head in the sand and "hope" they do the right thing.

It's the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee - one of two groups that review and advise the Secretary of the Treasury as to which designs will be used on US coins. The other group is the USFAC - United States Fine Arts Committee.

    wow what great points..

    Heres mine:

    1. I agree with who ever said it... dealers get mad when you refer to the black or red books....

    2. the fact that i cant find ANY romotley close clubs, groups or stores...

    3. I dont have any friends who collect with me...besides you guys....awwwwwww :D

    4. And that i am forced to buy coins off of ebay...especialy considering that shipping on a simple buffalo nickel in 400% profit of the orig. price...

    Anyways....its still a good hobby...LOL

    No actual grade for 30.

seriously there needs to be something between 20 and 40, its too large a gap in prices and grading overall compared to the rest of the grades and prices.

    20 more fine
    30 very fine
    40 extra fine
    ?

    just seems right to me.

    Color

    This list is good but
I just can't bring myself to admit that a colorized coin is still a coin.
adding color to a coin changes it.

    According to the ANA grading guide these grades do exist. Why do you think they don't ? They are as follows - AG3 - G4 - VG8 - F12 - VF20 - VF30 - EF40 - EF45 - AU50 - AU55 - AU58 - MS60 etc.

But the grading companies go even further and other grades in between are used. Such as - VG10 - F15 - VF25 - VF35 - AU53. And they go lower - to PO1 I believe.

you missed my point, i know that the number values exist, but look at your chart
    AG3 - G4 - VG8 - F12 - VF20 - VF30 - EF40 - EF45 - AU50 - AU55 - AU58 - MS60

VF has twice the length on the scale of any other number. from what ive seen if its under 40 ( even 35) coins tend to fetch considerably less than a 40 because of those 2 little letters. also in the photograde book for example its a little vague running from 20-40, it should be tightened up by having an ACTUAL, recognized grading standard for 30.

The worst thing about collecting coins is the fact that no matter how many I accumulate, I always want something else. I buy one coin I've been saving up for and then a couple weeks later I want something else. It's like I'm a coin junkie! :)
