96-27 BC. Helmeted head of Athena right; GENI??O above / Horse walking right; caps of the Dioskouri before. In that shape, about $25 or so.
I believe Mat is a bit generous because the wear is starting to make the legends and face details unclear. Depending on the dealer it would sell for $10 to $25 but you would find it hard to find a dealer interested in the purchase of such a coin as a single item. Wholesale quantities of worn Greek bronzes are available so most demand will be for more detailed specimens. Just a bit more detail and this would easily be $25.
I agree. Its an interesting type, so if a touch higher grade would be an interesting coni to own, but in that grade there would be less demand than normal for it. Its still a cool thing though, right? I mean, an ancient Greek coin with a picture of a horse prancing on one side, and the goddess Athena on the other in her war helmet?
