This coin has been discussed before, I know several collectors think it is a coin of Theodore Branas or Tsar Peter II. My opinion remains un changed because history has only recorded as Theodore Mankaphas creating coinage.

I recently bought a group lot from Leeland auctions, a collector must have passed because his collection was vast and well documented. One of the last lots had this in it with a few rare assaria as well as a few common anonymous follis. This coin us why I went after the lot.

The pictures on the lot were one sided but this coin rarely comes up to auction, it also had in the notes it was an Ex CNG coin purchased in the notes. Today after a long work trip I was able to pick up the coin and inside the flip was the original CNG flip. The date on the auction so I gave CNG a call, I was going to see if I had to go find the catalog to the auction. They kindly answered my questions and even provided me a pic of the original auction page. Everything matched.

And as for the previous collector, he kept excellent notes on each coin, this one included.
