    This is the reason I like Ancient coinage: It stimulates discussion about related history.

    Fun fact: the last recorded time the Colloseum in Rome hosted entertainment was during King Theodoric's reign. In celebration of attaining the consulship in 523 AD, Anicius Maximus hosted venationes in the amphitheatre (animal hunts - by this time there was no more condemning of Christians, and gladiatorial fights had been outlawed in the 400s AD). These venationes were later criticized for their expensiveness by Theodoric.
