When I lived there a few years ago I would save one of each denomination if I could get new ones in the bank when I changed money. Never got crisp uncirculated 50 hryven or 100 hryven notes though.

The initial proposed design of the notes for the subjugation of Ukraine by the fascists were all in the Ukrainian language, those designs were quickly quashed and notes mostly in the German language were printed and released into circulation. Curiously lower value 1 and 2 karbovnetz notes were printed but were destroyed when the train transporting them was blown up by partisans and very few are known.

From the reverse of the notes with the German and Ukrainian language anti-counterfeiting notices with promises of an unpleasant prison experience it was apparent that the fascists were very concerned about counterfeiting.
