Mexico - 10 Pesos, 1954

 

@Bradley Trotter I need to get one of those "Tehuana"notes. Mexican paper is just such a vast area to collect if you go into the 19th century like I felt the need to.

 

This is going to be a stretch for "Uno" but it is the same girl, now masquerading as "Yuliya" on a Russian note.

Maria, Yuliya they are all the same.

 

I'm certainly planning on branching out into Mexican paper money in due time. Regardless, is there any particular reference guide you'd recommend for Mexican paper money?

Don't forget there's a rule concerning similar motifs so that would likely be a valid post on your part @scottishmoney.

 

There definitely are references on it - just haven't gotten serious enough into that area yet to have bought them yet. My whole collection looks like it was compiled by someone with a scatterbrain.

 

Same here. My collection consists of everything from ancient coins to bank checks. I'm not exactly what one would consider a focused collector. Basically, my only guiding tenant for collecting is, do I want it, and can I afford it?

China, 5 Yuan, 1960

People's Republic of China - 1 Jiao, 1980

 

One I owned only very briefly before gifting it to my daughter, she collects Chinese banknotes and coins:





This will probably be the largest and oldest banknote on here, it is a Ming Dynasty note from the late 14th century a 1 Kuan or 1000 cash note. Her Majesty has given permission for me to post this image.

 

People's Republic of China - 5 Jiao, 1980

 

Crazily enough, I have a similar example of this note in my phone case(clear plastic) that I saved from circulation in China a couple of years ago. I think these small change notes are cool.
