My first for this emperor:</p><p> </p><p>[ATTACH=full]1115046[/ATTACH]</p><p><br /></p><p><b>Nicephorus II Phocas Æ Follis </b></p><p><b>(963-969 A.D.)</b></p><p><b>Constantinople Mint</b></p><p>NICIFR [bASIL] RW, crowned bust facing in loros, holding labarum and cross on globe / +NICHF-EN QEW bA-SILEVS RW-MAIWN in four lines. </p><p>Sear 1782; DOC 8. </p><p>(4.36 grams / 25 mm)</p><p><br /></p><p>Phocas should get a little credit for presenting the Pantheon to the Catholic Church, thereby perhaps saving it from destruction. Otherwise, he seems to have been pretty awful.
