OK, being a brave old guy today by going first: AU 50.

Jack: is this one of the counterfeits you have been specializing in?

Looks EF 40. Unless it's in a homemade slab and it looks to be
in a legit TPG slab, I would have to think the coin is genuine.
Without seeing the entire slab who can tell if it's fake.

I have no idea how to authenticate a half cent so I will assume it is real and say XF45 for grade.

I voted 45. Considering who the OP is, I assume this is a fake in a TPG slab.

No clue on authenticity, but the grade is XF45 IMO.
I would need to hunt up some of your threads on counterfeits, to look for the markers that you pointed out. (daunting w/o - exp/practice)
    Deer in headlights...:wideyed:

PS, no XF on poll. :bag:

XF 45 ...my guess for what is on the slab....as to real or not, I’ll guess that poll choice was there just to throw us off:D

I said fake. Too many missing details in the wreath on the reverse.

Thanks; I used "EF" instead of "XF". Maybe old school...

    Exactly !!!
Unless he knew we would think that, and posted an authentic to throw us off. :D

I went with fake due to the raised dimples.

I'm gonna suck at this, (authenticating) but it should be a fun learning experience.
    Thanks Jack.

I voted EF-40. Looks like a legit small six, stemless variety. I'm probably wrong. Looking forward to reading the reasons why.

OK, the collection contains 7 of these, with two others in genuine TPG holders graded EXACTLY the same straight numerical grades as the subject of this post (one sold in a major auction house venue).

Interesting post. First thing that drew my eye is her eye. Seems "wild" if that makes sense. What diagnostics do you use sir?

The eye is actually correct for the variety medoraman along with other details; the proof is in the circulation marks...

I made my guess before seeing any other info or posts and I think a TPG will grade it too high at 50. I’ll not speculate on authenticity but I thought counterfeits were body bagged rather than slabbed.
