Don't know if its possible, but how about two passive RFID chips, each of which has different types of info. The ID of the coin itself could be readable with a smartphone app from the TPG, but only if an encryption code on the second chip is correct. Using passive chips provides a pretty long life-span, and may make it possible to add another layer of security if only the correct app would activate them. Its probably easier to upgrade software than to keep trying to come up with new hardware (slab designs). The downside of course is that twenty years from now we'll find out that having a RFID chip near a coin causes little green spots to develop
