The '09VDB is very clean but I agree that the surface with its fingerprint is not going to appeal to everyone. As for a premium for the toning, I'd guess there isn't one: neutral or even detracting. Otherwise, this is a tough coin to grade (which is probably why you posted it): it's not fully red and almost looks to have rub, although I'm guessing it grades MS. I don't spend much time with Lincolns so this is all speculation.

Sorry for messing this thread up. Someone should jump in with a new coin

I have checked this thread periodically and not sure if I have seen any copper posted. My camera picks up the "skins" of oxidation very well - almost too well. In hand the fingerprint is noticeable but not immediately. It is graded PCGS MS64Brown - PCGS Price Guide=$50 - I was OK with paying $107 delivered because of it's uniqueness. For comparison, this is a 64BN solid for the grade.

I don't recall any copper being posted; if it has, it's been a while. I've seen some great Lincolns of yours on other threads so I hope you post some toners here! I have to say, though, the way your first 09 VDB is photographed, without much directional light, it's hard to see what's happening with the physical surface (the scratches); I would've guessed a higher grade than 64.

This thread has become a shell of its former self, unfortunately. Are we back to TexJarHead's buffalo? I'll guess $400, gorgeous coin.

Thread is out of control. Someone please step in, post a toned and graded coin. Tell us what the grade is and when you purchased the coin.

Then our object is to try and guess what you paid.

After 24 hrs (yes, only 24 hours) you need to post the actual and let us know who came the closest. That person then gets the honor of posting the next coin.

If they don't then anyone can jump in and post the next coin, but please allow 24 hrs. for the winner to post the next coin.

    cheers.

We have a coin up right now, post #1702.

PS: I suggest allowing more than 24 hrs. for responses. Things have been slow around here. At least until things pick up, if they ever do.

On the Buffalo at post #1702 I'll guess $165 and I like it.

Here's the coin from post #1702. It is an NGC MS-62 purchased 2 weeks ago. I'll post the final price in the morning.

I paid $175.00 for the Buffalo from Northeast Numismatics. So, Duke Kavanaugh is the winner.

Nice find! I'm kinda surprised you paid so little for it. I've never seen color like that on a Buffalo before.

Wish more people were participating in this thread.

BTW, did you post this Buff on another thread recently?

Actually one almost as nice on teletrade tonight, very rare to see 2 beauties like these at the same time. My guess was double the actual, it will be interesting to see what the hammer on tonights is.

I thought your guess was good and had to decide whether to go above or below you!

To tell the whole truth, Northeast Numismatics was running a special for 7% off a single coin purchase at the time. It was listed for $187.00 or there abouts. And yes, I did post on another thread right after buying it.

They've got another listed for $5950.00 here.... http://www.northeastcoin.com/popupcontainer.jsp?include=/popup/viewimage.jsp&itemkey=zi09_305146109 Scarce date & MM, hence the high price.

I'm a toning admirer and not a toning buyer :D
Well kind of...either way can someone post one for me to keep the thread going?
TexasJarhead has first chance if he has one that he wants to post and I'd like to give him 24 hours to respond. If nothing by then the floor is open to the first one posted.
    Thanks

OK, here you go. Bought at the Baltimore Whitman show a couple of weeks back. It's a PCGS PR 64 RB.
