p.s. I'd love to see someone tone a black coin rainbow. Ain't gonna happen, however, because black coins are the end result of toning and rainbow toning occurs before it turns black. So unless you have a natural process remove toning (of which I know of none) you will NEVER see a coin that's toned black turn into a rainbow (or any other non-black toning color). Toning, like time, only goes in one direction: Untoned->Colorful->Black. It's chemistry (corrosion) and physics (optics/thin film interference) that dictate this, and frankly, it's not really debatable.

Doug, please don't delete anything until I get back. I'd like to read it.

I'm happy to leave things as they are, now. But any more and I'm gonna put the Admin hat on. So just stay on topic and it will be just peachy ;)

You can't relinquish the information because it doesn't exist. It is not possible to turn a black toned coin into a rainbow toned beauty. I never challenged you. I simply asked you to back up your statement.

The toning on that Jefferson is neutral and has no effect on the price of the coin. I will say $50.

Toning is pleasant, but not much of a premium. The 64 grade and S/D will drive the cost. I'll guess $75.

Okay, time for the winner. Doug, right out of the shotgun hit the price right on the cent. $80.00 I will also say that the majority of responders also were correct in assessment why there was no premium paid for this coin. It's very nice in hand, has a decent amount of luster to it, but it is a low end 64 coin. The Seller wanted $100.00 for it, and I offered the $80.00 as a walk a way price, which I may have over paid, but it is an S/D . Doug, your up!

O.K. let's see if we can keep the thread interesting.

This is a recent non-Ebay Auction piece . Opinions and final value estimates will be appreciated.

I love the reverse toning. Obverse so-so. Probably 1.5x-2x because of the toning. I'll guess about $125.

I like it... nothing that would drive an excessive premium imo,, but would add a ~.2-.4x to my bid.... I'll go $80
