Do you think the "Ring" toning is the result of sitting in a coin album for many years? I'd always wondered why some toning seems to have ring pattern to it.

Seems logical enough . If a coin is toned naturally , there are to many variables involved in trying to determine a single cause how a coin tones. Each one is unique.

I don't recall who said it, but I disagree, I think this coin is well struck for the issue and actually by comparison , this example is far more eye-appealing than some of the also " star " designated specimens. I can't see Lehigh not being a top bidder for this coin.

Ill refrain from guessing because I was in that one, I think its funny there were at least four different Rainbow Jeffersons and I ended up locking horns with you on this one. Did you end up winning the others?

I like this toning...not tons but I do like it. I'd say that it was bought at $375 but I'd only pay $125. Maybe that's why I don't have many nice toners. :D
The pattern of toning also makes it desirable to me.

I'll go 5x.... 290. don't know toners well enough to comment,, but I like the coin, and think the toning does add eye appeal to this one,,, bake in the *,, and I could see 5x.

I don't know Jeffersons let alone toned Jeffersons and didn't do any research so this is just a stab. The toning is attractive and consistent but the strike looks to be a bit weak (not knowing strike details of this date/mint): I'll go low with $210.

I like the toning but spot in Tom's hair (unless it's on holder) would be a bit distracting and I am therefore taking it into account. Luster looks solid and I'm not sure how this strike stacks up for this date.
    My guess is $320.
    Enjoy it!

I love the rainbow toning along the rim. Since it is on both sides, I'm more inclined to think it was the result of being stored in a Kraft envenlope rather than an album, roll or bag. I'll say 6x.......$348

NICE!Why did the 64D sell for so cheap? There was just so much last week that I didn't even win a thing. Guess I couldn't make my mind up. In retrospect I wish I would have pulled the trigger on the 58D Franklin:confused:

Well Duke you wouldn't win the coin, but your guess was the closest. I paid $365 (6.3X Wholesale) for the coin. Post or pass my friend!

    I pass to you LeHigh.

And I can't believe I have been the closest to 2 of these now as I never thought I was good at the toning market.
    I'll blame dumb luck :D

IIRC, your original guess was 12X wholesale ($700). I think that is an excellent guess except you forgot to allow for the fact that the coin is severely market graded. This coin is low end MS66, not an MS67. Therefore if you apply the 12X premium to the Numismedia wholesale price for an MS66 ($24), you get a much more realistic $288. Personally, I think I overpaid a little and was hoping to get the coin for $300. My max bid was $400. The E-Bay seller I bought the coin from has a very loyal following and his auctions always bring top dollar.

I will open the floor to anyone who wants to post a toner. If nobody has posted by the time I get home from work, I will post one. I can't post now, work blocks photobucket.

Hmm well wholesale is about $50 and the toning is kind of dark for me. Did you get this straight from Shane or from an auction of his?
