I think the reverse marking was made by some type of packaging, I have seen it explained before but don't remember the specifics. If it was tape how was it removed without screwing up the adjacent toning? It's not end roll but perhaps a strap type of thing. In any event I'll go $775, don't love it but wouldn't kick it out of bed either.
The 81CC went for $690 incl. BP. I thought it'd go for a little more. Heck, if I had had an extra $700 sitting around getting dusty I'd have gone for this and maybe tried to dip only the reverse! (I know, bad idea all over.) You're up, snake.
Pass, sorry. Can't find anything suitable to post as I have difficulty capturing the color of my coins so I have mostly posted TT auction pictures from coins that I have won, their photos are much better than mine, plus a few that were from active auctions. It really is an unacceptable situation because I can't sell any toners on ebay without great pictures as thats what drives the price as well as the grade since that is what this thread is about. I will order the book on numismatic photography and see if I can improve the quality but in the meantime someone else post a beauty, thanks for your indulgance.
I sympathize; I don't take the best coin photos but it's because at the moment I don't want to invest (time or money) in a dedicated macro lens, copy stand, etc. If you want to sell, though, it's a must, so good luck with that. Looks like this thread is fizzling out...
If I am reading this correct its open so how about we try to guess how much this toned gold ran me. Tough to image but you get the point
Thanks for posting. This would probably appeal to a lot of people, but as much as I like toned Vs, I prefer more subtle tone. For me, the rainbow competes with Liberty's portrait. $175. Is this the 1st toned V we've had on this thread? Here's toning I like (not my coin), MS66:
I didn't mean to gum up the works. I'm guessing $175 on seasnake's V nickel; gotta pass on the gold for now.
If im not mistaking seasnake was just showing us the coin. It doesnt hammer until Sunday at 10pm. If I am wrong than I can edit my post and remove my coin.
I believe you are correct. At worst, all you have to do with seasnake's coin is click on it to get the answer. Anyhow, $1100 for your gold.
It's still fun to guess, though, since it's posted. We can guess the gold and then do snake's V if anybody wants to. I'll go $375 on the pretty gold piece.
Okay I guess this thread isnt what it used to be. I paid $650 for this one and grabbed 3 other for $475 a piece in a private deal
It has slowed down a bit. Partly because LeHigh isn't here. Partly because we've seen every toned coin out there Post one someone...
I have one ... How about some copper? How much for this colorful PCGS PF65RB Indian Cent? PCGS price guide says $600 for an average coin in this condition/grade. I just loved the mix of colors on the obverse (pink, lavendar, blue, green, orange, red, gold ... it's hard to count them all). And I love that fleck of green in Miss Liberty's ear! This was my first Proof coin from the 1800's. The photos were taken by Todd of BluCCPhotos, who told me he took it "before he know how to photograph proofs" -- which means he can make this coin look better in a re-shoot (that's a scary thought). You can guess if you want. Or just drool, which is what I did when I first saw it.
