I would say toning does bring a premium on half cents. Like a few others mentioned, this particular one had a few issues that would most likely prevent a straight grade. For a details piece, the 63 likely is still a premium (and an appropriate one as I think it was also a good price).

    I will post my non-Morgan shortly. :p

And here is the next installment...it's a Dominican Republic pattern...so it'll be a bit of a challenge to determine how much is toning premium and how much is pattern premium.
Krause unusual coins lists it at $85
What did I sell it for?

I'm going to guess $300. A mintage of 40 is too thinly traded of an item for catalog values to be of any use.

However I just realized that the large spot between the pillars is not part of the design, looks like active corrosion. That would kill the toning premium for me. I'm keeping my guess the same though due to the rarity. Also some people probably wouldn't care about the spot given the toning.

I agree. Though, even that spot has some color itself. Tough to guess what someone would be willing to pay, considering the rarity, and color. I'm starting to think I didn't choose wisely.

This is a hard one. I'm going to say you sold it for $240.

On a side note, is this really a "pattern"...was this design actually truly intended for minting? Were these minted by a government entity?

Much of the stuff with the Krause "X-#" designation is fantasy coinage. I have a whole bunch of fantasy British pieces. That catalog is a joy to peruse. Cool esoteric stuff is right in my wheelhouse.

My guess is based on the coin being a government issued pattern, or at least ordered by the government. If it's a private fantasy piece I would guess $50.

The REAL question is> did NGC grade this coin/pattern/fantasy piece U-CAM because all the other examples that crossed their desk were also U-CAMS ????:bucktooth::bucktooth:???
Or can u actually see a black/white cameo effect if you tip the coin at just the right angle ??????:droid::droid::peeking::peeking::troll::troll::troll:??????

Sidenote- its fun to think outside the box and over use emojis like the all knowing @Insider
