Did this Morgan ever belong to @jtlee321 ? It looks familiar for some reason. Edit: or maybe I’ve just seen it before...
Ill call it here. That Morgan sold for $3,995, according to a third party site the seller accepted the full price with an offer.
Watchcount hasn't been able to show the offer amount lately and eBay also seems glitchy when trying to sort by price. I also saw the crazy price, but I'm not sure if that $3,995 is correct. If it is, I'm shocked! Even if it sold for half (at $2k), that is still out of this world. @Johndoe2000$ does take the round with the highest guess. I'm at times skeptical of some of these sales as I've tried moving some toners too and can't get anywhere near those prices.
I didn't know where else to post this but would like to hear other's thoughts on it. (the toning and how it slipped past NGC graders). https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-coins/monday-morning-brief-for-july-1-2019-change-in-the-news
I think there could be some solid discussion on this if you started a thread on it. My quick thought is that NGC should have caught it if the cleaning was obvious enough to detail it the first time (the color didn't look like it was the kind that would make it harder to tell a coin was cleaned for a professional grader). Plus, at this price level they should have had their best graders on the job. It is nice to see this part: "Heritage, NGC and the consignor did the right thing in pulling the coin from auction" ....and hopefully NGC paid a strong amount to get it off the market, especially if the consignor wasn't involved in doctoring the coin but just bought it.
