I'm changing this. Idk why but I feel it's going for over 1k. I'm going to do $1026.

Hard to believe that toning would command such a substantial premium.
But... $500?

 

Have you been following this thread??? Sometimes these "monsters" sell for mars money. ( more than Moon money)

 

Yeah, but this isn't a monster, its a crusty lackluster Morgan that shouldn't sell for anything approaching moon money. That said, @ddddd routinely posts coins from Great Collections that over perform.

There is a Jefferson Nickel on the Great Collections site, 2nd time around, no bids first time. Crazy toning, looks artificial to me, 1944-P NGC 66*. You would not believe what that person's starting bid is? Since I am new here, can't post the photo. Go check it out...

 

The one that is $6.5k?
I saw it posted on Instagram.

It went unsold the first time it was listed on GC. I doubt anyone will go that high on this coin.

 

That's the one.
Maybe if it was 67+ or 68FS, then I could see the money but certainly not as a 66 with questionable toning.

I'm seriously going to have to start trying to sell my coins on Instagram.

The owner of that coin will be lucky to get $650 for that coin much less $6,500. I have sold much better looking Appalachian Jeffersons for around $1K.

 

I don’t think it sold for anywhere close to the asking price on Instagram (if at all). I just recall seeing it posted there by the person who sent it to GC. I’m not sure what he was thinking in terms of price as we all know that it would be extremely unlikely that it sells for anywhere near $6.5k. And I don’t think it works as good marketing either.

 

I wonder if he added a zero by mistake?

 

Maybe, but somehow I doubt it. Someone commented on the price on Instagram and given that it didn’t sell the first time, there has been a chance to revise it by now.

 

Yeah. That’s just a stupid price for that coin. Pretty though questionable but I think $650 would be strong

 

$1029.38 was the final price, so the change paid off.
And this was another example of something that went too high in my opinion.
