So here's what I got. 1868 2c and from the opinions I've gotten and what I think it would hit at about AU50-53. I feel like if I sent it to one of the big 2 it may get slabbed at a 55, but let's just go with book at 50 for arguments sake. I was looking for a 64LM but...the toning on it caught my eye and I grabbed it up. It was shiny and sparkly and I said oooh how much. I used LED light to get the second obverse shot. It was the only thing that came close to showing how it looks in hand. The reverse glows about the same.
Points Table IBetASilverDollar - 3 Points ddddd - 3 Points Beefer518 - 1 Point baseball21 - 1 Point brg5658 - 1 Point Volante - 1 Point jtlee321 - 1 Point moneycostingmemoney - 1 Point And for future reference, raw coins are fine. Just do as moneycostingmemoney did and give us an approximate grade and value for that grade.
This could work in Price is Right, but I mentioned in my OP that the winner is just whoever is closest. I appreciate the effort and you're next on my list of members to pass the right to post if I win.
Crap...so I just realized that my assessment was incomplete. When I said book at 50 I meant book value at AU50, which Redbook has 110 so I'll hit it with my algorithm and say it's actually/probably greysheeted at ~$75. Sorry guys, my bad. Edited to add- If you want to change your values I'll go with what's posted after this. If nothing else is posted I'm gonna roll with your original guess.
Yes, please; I do not own an appropriate candidate for this thread which hasn't been publicized as widely as I could do it. Seriously, I don't buy toners just for their toning, and if I do it's only because I could cherrypick them.
