http://www.nctimes.com/news/local/c...cle_eaecf5bc-5734-50f6-82b8-bbfac1c3c303.html There’s a nickel I’ve kept on my desk at The Californian for many years. It’s not the kind of coin you come across in change every day.
Nice article - thanks for sharing. I imagine many collectors look forward and remember 'finds' from pocket change. There's a whole section dedicated to coin-roll-hunting, partly for the money, partly for the joy. This article actually highlights an interesting issue - that we, collectors, while saving/preserving the past, by our very acts, are prohibiting others from experiencing that joy of pocket-change find. I don't think I could convince anyone, let alone myself, to "catch and release" like fisherman, so that others could enjoy a great catch now and then, but I do like the author's sentiment.
I gave my daughter an indian head nickel that she keeps in her school backpack, it's just a common date but she loves showing if off at school to the other kindergartners who all get a thrill out of it.
