Earlier I posted my LS "Arrows at Date" set. But LS coins are not limited to just those. I also have a Type Set which includes other LS varieties. Here's my Half Dimes: I'll post the other values as time permits.
So are there collectors out there working on circulated sets of any seated denomination, trying for a complete or nearly complete set, I mean? I once put together forty-some seated dimes (probably avg. nice VG-F) before drifting into other things. I know they were mostly the easier ones, but I do think I will come back to it someday.
Yes. I have been working on the quarters for over a year now. So far I have about 30, 25 of the more common dates with a few tougher dates but nothing rare really, and then about 5 varieties in the set. I expect I'll get as close to being done as I will ever come sometime around 2047
Couple more newbies that just came in. This will probably do it for me for a bit. I've been on a frenzy lately and need to cool down for the winter time 1877-CC AU-53 1877-S AU-50 Seller pic
here are all my Seated liberty coins (photos are subpar, but I did them quick): 1882 dime - got it in junk silver 1854 & 1856 Quarters - bought for about ~$12 each at an antique mall 1872 Quarter - bought for $12 at a LCS two weeks ago. The scratches/gouges are harsh, but for $12 I think it's a good buy for a relatively low mintage and as a fun lark. 1859-O Half - bought for $15 a year ago at my preferred LCS 1871 Half - bought for about $110 from a great coin shop in my region
Apparently I lied and couldn't last more than about 3 days. You have to jump on these coins when they present themselves though. This is a tough date to begin with, but popular consensus also thinks that many of these were melted in the Great Melt of '53. 1853 that is. I usually don't go for coins in this low of a grade, but like I said, grab em when you see them for this date. There are a few on eBay, mostly similar in grade or lower, and mid mint state. No AUs at the moment, which is what I am after. However this coin was acquired with PLENTY of room to make a nice gain to put toward a better quality version. Plus this seems like a nice piece for the grade. All the other 1848 VF-30/35s are priced around or above $500
Nice info on that Melt of '53, I got an 1852-O half dime (260000 minted to begin with, many were melted and only about 200 exist now) for the Christmas season. It's on the top of the 4th page.
