Well dang I missed Septimus...and Commodus...hope you guys don't mind if I back it up a little?

    Commodus; Philppopolis, Thrace; AD 180-192
    AE, 4.07g, 18mm; 6h
Obv.: AY K? M?...-KOMOΔOC; laureate head right
Rev.: [Φ]ΙΛΙΠΠΟ[ΠOΛEITΩN]; coiled serpent with something in it's mouth
Ref.: Varbanov 994 - Wildwinds offers no description of the legend. Looking at other coins the obverse description may read AY K AI AYP KOMOΔOC. The K on the obv is hard to read and the AI looks a lot like an M. My understanding is Varbanov is not clear on this coin either.

The below coin was purchased as a companion to the above coin:
    Septimius Severus, 193 - 211 AD
    Æ 8 Assaria, 32mm, 15.31g, 8h; Thrace, Pautalia Mint.
Obv.: AV K A CEΠTI CEVHPOC ΠEP; Laureate head of Septimius right.
Rev.: OVΛΠIAC ΠAVTAΛIAC; Fourfold coiled serpent with erect head right.

    I have more...

Some more Septimus Severus provincials I would like to share.

I love the astronomical theme to the coin below and I find it interesting because I don't know what it means:
Septimius Severus, Nikopolis ad Istrum, AD 139-211
    AE, 3.11g, 16.5mm; 2h
Obv.: AV KAI [CE] CEVHPOC, laureate head right
Rev.: NIKOΠΟΛΙΤΩΝ ΠΡΟCICT; crescent and one star
Ref.: AMNG 1436v; Nikopolis BMC 17
Unsure why Wildwinds does not include the final C on the obv even though all the pictures they have include it. My coin includes it so the C is mentioned in the obv legend. Also, the [CE] is off flan.

Please excuse the bluryness...I took this photo under very austere conditions. Also, it's "fully nippled"!
    Septimius Severus, AD 193-211
    AE, 2.9g, 16.5mm; 8h; Nikopolis ad Istrum
Obv.: [AV KAI CE] - CEVHPOC; laureate head right
Rev.: [NIK]OΠOΛI - T. ΠPOC [IC]; Hermes nude, chlamys over left arm, holding kerykeion in left arm and purse in extended right hand

Finishing my Septimus provincial collection is the coin below which was purchased as a compain to the same reverse type but for Caracalla. My limited research indicates that there is also the same reverse type for Geta and that is high on my want list.

    Septimius Severus, AD 193-211
    AE28, 13.4g, 6h; Rabbath-Moba mint, CY 105 = AD 210/11.

Rev.: ΡABBAΘMΩBΩN ΘEOC AΡHC; Ares standing facing on high base with pilasters, between two flaming altars, holding dagger and shield with spear.Date P-E across fields.

I find myself drawn to the coins of Caracalla. Maybe it's watching him go from a youth to a scowling emperor? Not sure what the attraction is but I have a few very nice coins of his I would like to share.

First is the inspiration for the the coin above. I liked it because of the depection of Ares. I imagine this is how the god would have been displayed in a temple or shrine. Aslo the sand patina is just as warm and pleasing looking in hand as the picture. Of course, if anyone sees the Geta of this type, I would love it if you let me know!
    Caracalla, AD 198-217
    AE30, 15.2g, 6h; Rabbathmoba, Palestine, dated CY 105 = AD 210-211.
Obv.: AVT K M AV ANTUNINOC, laureate, draped, cuirassed bust right.
Rev.: PABBAΘ-MUBUN, Ares standing facing on square base decorated with pilasters, and holding sword, spear and round shield. Lighted torch to left and right. Date P-E across fields

This is my most youthful provincial portrait of Caracalla. I also love the artful depictions of Mt. Argaeus.
    Caracalla, AD 198-217
AE27, 14.5g, 12h; Caesarea Cappadocia, year 13 (of the rule of Septimius Severus), AD 204/5.
Obv.: AY KAI M AYP ANTΩNINOC; Laureate head right.
Rev.: MHTPOΠ KAICAPEI; Agalma of Mt. Argaeus, star over summit // ETIΓ (year 13)

This was my first provincial from Caracalla. I haven't seen a nicer one of this type from this city. Not sure what's up with the white specs, they're not on the coin.
    Marcianopolis, Caracalla, AD 198-217
    AE27, 10.2g, 6h.
Obv.: ΠIOC AVΓ ANTΩNINOC; Laureate head right, seen from behind.
Rev.: YΠ KYNTIΛIANOY MAPKIANOΠOΛITΩN (Quintillianus magistrate); Eagle standing left on globe, head right, holding wreath.

These large bronzes are some of my favorite coins:
    Caracalla, AD 198-217
    AE31, 16g, 12h; Serdica.
Obv.: AVT K M AVR SEVH ANTΩNEINOC Laureate head right.
Rev.: OVΛΠIAC CEPΔIKHC; Apollo standing facing, head left, holding patera in right hand and palm-branch in left.

    Caracalla, AD 198-217
    AE30, 14.9g, 7h; Thrace, Pautalia.
Obv.: AVT K MAVP CEV ANTONEINOC, Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right.
Rev.: OVΛΠIAC ΠAVTAΛIAC, Asklepios standing front, looking left, leaning on serpent-entwined staff.

Here's a Syrian tetradrachm that I don't have any info on save here and I'm away from my database...
