Bear in mind, Brian, that I do not own the “new” RIC vol. II, part 1 which contains numerous updated and additional attributions. I am afraid it is too late in the game for me to invest $100+ (or thereabouts) in a new reference book - SWMBO has a rightful voice here - I will rely on corrections posted by my fellow enthusiasts whenever necessary. But I do now own BMCRE, vol II, Spink 2005 edition.
I would very much like to purchase this wonderful Titus Restoration coin that is presently listed on Vcoins, however, I cannot justify that because of the commitment to myself, and especially to SWMBO, not to buy anymore coins. Ah well, it is all for the best I suppose. BTW, I make it out to be BMCRE, vol. II, Titus no. 261, Pl. 53.11
Curtis' article touched on the restored coins issue by Trajan. This is not pretty to look at, but it is unique: Trajan; 98-117 AD. AR denarius (2.8 gm). Restoration of Q. Fabius Maximus. Obv: ROMA (Q) FAB MAXIMUS (......?). Laur. hd. of Apollo, r., "star" under chin, lyre before. Rev: IMP CAES TRAIAN AVG GE(R) (D)AC PP REST. Cornucopia upon thunderbolt, all within wreath. Restoring RSC Fabia 6. All coins of this series are exceedingly rare, and rarely listed for auction. When they are, they command very high prices. This coin is apparently unique , as verified by the British Museum on 17 August 2004.
I recently purchased the BMCRE, vol II, Spink 2005 edition because of some reviews by CT members who reported that it contained really excellent photographic Plates. I have found that to be so. Any comments?
Claudius restitution by Titus: Claudius. 41-54 AD. Æ Sestertius Restitution issue. (34mm; 24.66 gm; 7h). Rome mint. Struck under Titus, 80-81 AD. Obv: TI • CLAVDIVS CAESAR • AVG P M TR • P • P • P •, laureate head of Claudius right. Rev: IMP T VESP AVG REST, S C across field, Spes advancing left, holding up flower in right hand and raising hem of skirt with left. RIC II 472 (Titus); BMCRE 297 (Titus); BN 308; Cohen 103

Could you link to that Coin Talk thread? I am unaware that Spink has undertaken British Museum Catalogue reprints. Or do you mean Sear's Roman Coins and their Values, whose vol. II of the new edition was published in 2002?
Maybe this is the thread in question : https://www.cointalk.com/threads/co...m-comparison-with-photos.290124/#post-2632053
Curtis, Spink did reprint all the BMCRE volumes in 2005, and one can buy them individually second-hand at a wide range of prices. See, e.g., https://www.vcoins.com/en/stores/an...gly_2005_spink_reprint_new/36124/Default.aspx ; and https://www.ebay.com/itm/BMCRE-Coin...noa=1&pg=2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100623.m-1; etc. I don't think @jamesicus could have been referring to Sear RCV, which doesn't have any plates.
Thank you for helping me out here, Donna - that saved me doing a lot of research! For Curtis: I do indeed like the quality of the binding and of the photographic plates.

Thanks for the information! I had heard about that Spink BMC reprint before, but had forgotten the details.
