I like the new Perth mint. But I love those old soveriegns they made during the empire period. :hammer: Traci Hi Elaine !!!! Jezzzzz I didn'ttt knozzz dey made coinzzz in Perth Amboy, New Jerrzey?
why the perth mint issue three lunar series I silver bullion coins this year?. and dated three different year?.
Perth Mint released the 2008 Mouse, 2009 Ox and 2010 Tiger simultaneously. The three different years correspond to each symbol of the lunar cycle. [PDF] According to World Coin News from January 2009, they said, "In addition, the Perth Mint has now released the final three designs of its Lunar Series I silver proofs. There was some concern that with the commencement of Series II, the lunar proofs from Series I might be left incomplete after just nine designs. To allow collectors to complete a full 12 year cycle, Series I silver proofs for Year of the Mouse, Year of Ox and Year of the Tiger were released simultaneously in 2008."
the lunar series I mintage were quite low. the series II offer maximum 300,000 for one ounce and 500,000 for half ounce.
Apparently the mintage released by Perth Mint for the 2nd Series Year of Mouse 2oz coin is 9126. Does anyone know if it is the combined mintage of the coloured and non-coloured version? The non-coloured version seems to be quite scare and difficult to find.
i got lunar series II year of the rat (2008) and ox (2009). i will also buy year of the tiger (2010), rabbit (2011) and dragon (2012). that's it. i don't like snake, horse, goat, monkey, roster, dog, and boar. unless the design is exceptional beautiful.
