Lovely coin. Too bad about the nasty, white NGC prongs gnawing away at it like fangs, leaving shadows and blocking the view ...

Oh, sorry. Did I go off one one of my pet rants, there?

I think your mad rants might be worse than the plastic prongs. Get a grip man. :banghead:

    Prong-lover! Prong-lover! Admit it! You're a secret agent for NGC! Spreading prong-paganda!

"Prongs are harmless little things", you whisper soothingly.

No!!! They AREN'T! Prongs are the DEVIL'S WORK!!!

'Scuze me - I must pause to wipe the flecks of foam from around my mouth, and take a deep breath before resuming...

Actually, they don't bother me, either, IF the coin was photographed nicely before it got entombed. If I have to put up with prongs in the photos, though, look out!

    Prongs in photos = bad.

VERY BAD. The DEVIL'S WORK, I say! :vamp::rage:

Actual prongs in the slabs = meh.

NGC, I hope y'all are seeing this.

    @1934 Wreath Crown - I enjoyed "stealing" - borrowing - your coins. ;)

Well, which do you want? A properly graded coin in a slab with a little bit of prong intrusion (i.e., NGC), or an over-graded coin with glamor shots that look nothing like the coin in hand (i.e., PCGS)?

    :vamp:

    The latter, please. :)

    No contest there.

PS- don't mistake me for one of those a Kool-Aid-quaffing "PCGS or nothing else" kind of people (who also demand little CAC stickers on their US coins). Sure, I take sips of the PCGS Kool-Aid - occasionally big gulps of it - but really, aside from the prong thing and their substandard in-house photography, I have no issue at all with NGC. Have a submission going off to them pretty soon, in fact.

I like "glamour shots" and have no shame in admitting that.

Overgraded? PCGS? Not in my experience. More than once I've cracked a coin out of an NGC holder so I can send it to PCGS for proper images without prongs in the way ("glamor shots", as you say) and had it drop a point from NGC to PCGS. How's that overgrading?

Besides, if a TPG wants to overgrade a coin of mine by a point or two, who am I to complain? That's better than the opposite outcome.
