It's Barber Weekend! Be sure to guess in all 3 - dime, quarter, and half!

At the conclusion of Phase 1 around Christmas, I began to think that the photos I was using (from Heritage) might be biasing the grading guesses. So, I want to host Phase 2. I will again be using standardized photos, but this time I'll be using PCGS TrueViews. Again, we will stick to problem free US coins.

So, let's grade some more coins!

All you have to do is guess the grade! I will be attaching a poll to each thread. Please select the grade that you think best represents the coin (to avoid bias, please select your grade before viewing the rest of the thread).

Also please post your opinions about the coin, and it would be most educational if you could explain why you chose the grade you did.

We're going to cover a wide range of material, and some of it may be out of your wheelhouse. However, if you are a confident grader, you should be able to accurately grade almost any coin.

I think the few marks on the cheek hold it back a little. MS65

I called it 66 just because of a few small rim dings, a little scuff on the reverse and a little tick on cheek. It's probably a 67 on second thought. It has gorgeous luster and is just a pretty coin.

The small imperfections it does have seem to be in focal areas.

Wow, great coin. Looks like a 67 all day to me, the slight imperfections are overshadowed by the blazing luster and eye appeal.

This is the kind of coin where I say who cares if it was dipped when this is the result.

That is a fantastic dime. I voted 66

MS66, the obverse looks like planchet marks more than coin contact. The reverse with the marks in the field keep this from 67.

Amazing coin. Although I think it has real nice luster and minor imperfections on the high points, I grade the coin as a 66, It just doesn't have the flash that I hold only for coins 67 and above.

MS 66 Small tics keep it from going higher.

MS-67 is top pop with one graded at that level. Three are graded 66+. Here are those three.

IMO the OP coin is superior to all three.

Stunning. I vote 66. The the thing under “1” keeps it from 67.

It looks raised, so it might have been a die artifact?

66....I thought 67 was a possibility but it appears to have a few distractions that could knock it down to 66

I noticed it and also wonder what it is. Your explanation seems plausible.
Regardless of what it is, I think it is distracting on a high grade coin.

    66. Great luster, strike, eye appeal. Minor ticks on the cheekbone. Obverse fields are immaculate. Streaks on reverse and lack of color also keep it from a higher grade.

Clean other than a few marks on the cheek. A high end 65
