Wow, I had never heard of Vaultbox. Let's just say I'm apparently not part of their target demographic. "Barnum box", LOL.

I’m going to be 47 in a month and a half and I’m probably still in the young half of the hobby. I see this as NGC trying to expand the hobby and bring in new people. As a collector I want the hobby to continue after I’m gone. There have been several threads here in the past lamenting the feeling that there aren’t enough young collectors and now we are complaining about a company trying to reach out to those collectors. Kind of an odd argument to me.

And as for NGC doing it to make money, isn’t that the point of being in business? Let the market decide if this is a success or not. Coins were graded one way before the Sheldon scale changed that. Now they might change again.

Agreed. And if it's successful in doing so, then it's a win for the hobby. And the world isn't going to end if the Sheldon Scale has competition. Even an old guy like me gets that.

One would think so, but "capitalism" seems to be a dirty word these days.

Especially among these filthy hippie coin-collectors, amirite?
