I like ebay, it´s the best way to sell coins online. No other company has come close to what ebay has done in the past and most likely will in the future.

Ya for a buck fifty ,Id just refund a buck forty & have you keep it. Id **** on that amount before wasting my time with it. And as a buyer Id also eat the cost of it as to not embaress myself for being petty over $1.50,actually less . 10 for the coin .05 for the envelope & .45 to send it back. so actually .90 cents.

I think ebay provides a good service. Of course, it's not perfect, but what is this side of nirvana. I'm glad it exists. It is a good place to find things you can't find elsewhere; sometimes you can even find a great deal and it has helped to democratize collectibles and let the free market set the value. Show me something that accomplishes the same things in a better fashion and then I will agree to talk badly about ebay.

    I like ebay alot.

I love advanced search query so I can cut through the chaff instantly and find the exact coins I need. I like that I can see ratings for sellers, and i like doing digital "searches" of their "Stores". I like saving these queries and saving favorite sellers. I like not having people stare at me and make me feel like a thief, like they do in local coin shops and pawn shops. I can browse to my hearts content without actually needing to spend money (until I am absolutely ready). I like not having to pay a "Buyers fee", so my max bid is really my max bid. I like paying with paypal, since it's so darn easy.

I have never had an issue as a buyer, but I have had two issues as a seller. I am sure if I were to spend more money on ebay at some point I would have a bad experience, but I have been a member for almost 10 years, and I think the site is getting better, not worse. The thing is, if I had bought all these coins from local coin stores, or flea markets, or coins shows, I would also had at least a few bad experiences after 10 years.

No one store/auction house/site is going to be perfect 100% of the time. I love and drink starbucks coffee every single day for the past 15 years, that doesnt mean I dont occasionally get a bad cup of coffee or a rude barista.

eBay's fees are lower than those at the big auction houses. And when I go to local shows, the amount sellers offer for junk silver is consistently right around what I'd get selling on eBay and paying the fees. Sure, I'd love lower fees, but to me, it looks like a well-oiled market finding its natural equilibrium.

Yep, they're the only place to turn for coins, except Teletrade, Heritage, Craigslist, your local coin store, your pocket...

The only real problems I've had with ebay as a seller that didn't get me to quit selling was a chargeback ripoff I had from a lowlife buyer. And as a buyer for being taken a couple times with garbage items. Luckily at the time you could leave neg feedbacks and ebay didn't interfere. Those things happen. What stopped me from selling was their increased fees, their interference and limitations on shipping fees in some categories, their switch to the buyer is always right attitude - even when the seller did nothing wrong and the buyer didn't have to bid, and them changing their feedback system. Now I still buy off ebay but not much.

It's still better instead of not having it and it did help to democratize collectibles and let the free market set the values. It was instrumental in allowing a huge majority of people to locate items they wanted that might not be available locally and to not overpay if it was available locally on the premise it was one of a kind or rare.

No sir I know I did. Take head light bulbs for instants. I would of had to pay near $50 at the local autozone for the pair I need for my vehicle but I bout a nice brighter pair off of ebay for $20. That is a good deal.

    Fees Too High, Monopoly?

There aren't any eBay fees for the buyers, unlike the majority of major auction houses that compete with eBay. General shipping is relatively prompt/fantastic, return privileges, buyer protection, and ease of payment. EBay has many considerate sellers, with which you can contact directly, unlike their competitors. There are seemingly empathetic eBay representatives, with which a buyer/seller can converse, unlike their competitors.

I believe you'll find there are other numerous other options for buying or selling. Ebid has no/minimal fees for sellers, no fees for buyers, but doesn't allow the ease/flexibility of eBay, nor do other competitive auction houses of which I'm familiar. EBay is only a monopoly as a company that sells in their specific fashion.

I believe you can find numerous sales sites to meet your specific needs, but probably not one which has all of the parameters desired.

Although I wish that eBay fees were less, realistically I know what a buyer/seller receives, why eBay is so successful, and use their services selectively to suit my personal needs. I haven't yet found a more versatile buying/selling venue. JMHO

I think that Ebay is a good place to sell your silver coins since you get premium prices but everytime I bid on a coin and have a max bid of what I have got the coin for from a brick and mortar shop I am alsways outbid. Condsidering the final bids on coins I bid on I think I could get $10.50 for the Barber quarters below and close to that for the standing liberties. I paid the prices on the coins at a local precious medal dealer. The prices were set a while ago, but they didn't sell so.
