OK, I'm blaming you Barber posters for this one. I looked at those fantastic coins long enough that I broke my Barber maiden with this quarter. Proof 61. 777 minted. NGC population 5. Thanks guys! I love it!
Thanks, Silverhouse... Since then, I added another Proof to my Dime set ... I like it for a 64: Found this attractive 1901 Dime in 58 for my Everyman set - I just hope it crosses - otherwise, I crack it out for the Dansco Type Album...
I found what I considered an under graded Proof Dime: It'll get sent to CAC - where I am sure it will Green Bean { although a Gold Bean wouldn't look too out of place on this baby.}
Some great coins; love these threads. I'm always thankful that Mike and others tend to avoid the ones I go for
These are a little better photos than my first posting. My dilemma, will the coin grade high enough to warrant the extra expense of restoration. PCGS restoration services fee's are a little vague. Near as I can figure it would be in the $100.00 - $150.00 range for restoration, grading, shipping, insurance etc. If my estimate is accurate, according to current NGC coin value chart the coin will need to grade XF for me to remain on the plus side. My inexperienced eyes and the comparison coins I've looked at indicate VF possibly XF. My questions....Is my restoration estimate in the ballpark, and looking thru the dirt what would you grade. Thx in advance.
ExSkyWarrior - without the coin in hand, its very hard to say what will happen at Restoration - as far as what kind of money you'll spend - you very well may be right on target. I think the coin has AU 50 details. Your coin is a Type 2 - and I wish you well. Please post the results when you get the coin back, thanks. Santini- I see the bug has bitten you again ... Nice Proof Half. I'm slowly plugging away on Proof Dimes. I picked up four coins this weekend... Couple of Quarters - both PCGS 58 - and both destined for the Everyman Collection at PCGS: two quarters - from two friends - who know each other well: This one is going to CAC : It only took me 20 years to locate an AU 1903-S Dime....My old set had a 63 and my current set has an XF 40.... Here's a nice AU 55 { sorry no REV images yet } I also picked up this nice 1905-S in PC 55 - again: for the Everyman Set: I found this nice looking 1901 V Nickel - in PCGS 63 CAC - on eBay and paid for it with eBay Bucks - it arrived today, talk about fast service !!
Thought I would post this one so maybe one of you Barber guys might be able to attribute this one for me as I have never found a listing for it. At least a quadrupled die and maybe 5 punchings can be seen on the R of TRUST. Any help would be appreciated . 1892 a by stoneman227, on Flickr 1892 b by stoneman227, on Flickr 1892 c by stoneman227, on Flickr 1892 d by stoneman227, on Flickr 1892 e by stoneman227, on Flickr
Satindollar - as best as I can tell - they'll classify that { VERY nice coin } as a TDR I agree with you - there seems to be more than three strikes - but - I believe they'll limit it to a TDR - Very interesting to say the least ! Thanks for sharing.
