So I guess you are also offended by US coins for what they did to the indians, the Japanese americans during WWII, and slavery.
Offended by Russian coins because of what Stalin did to his people.
Offended by Spanish and Portagese coins because of their conquests in central and South America.
Offended by most of the Christian European countries because of the atrocities committed during the Crusades.
Offended by Greek coins because of Alexander the Greats conquests. Offended by Chinese coins because of Genghis Khan's conquests.
Japanese coins because of their actions during WWII. Cambodia for Phol Potts atrocities against his people.
And most of Africa for their histories of racial cleansing and of selling their own people and captured prisoners into slavery.
And many others for their "crimes against Humanity" in history.

    Just what do you collect

Yeah I heard these things happen, so I always give strangers my home address, especially on the internet, it's very safe nowadays. No shipments so far but my hopes are high!

So we have the Crusades, the inter-kingdom warring, the constant wars with France, the conquering of India and subjection of their native population, Slavery, the near wiping out of the aborigines in Australia, colonization of southern Africa and the subjugation of the people there (slavery or near slavery), Official "piracy" on the high seas against the Spanish, kidnapping of people to be forced to serve in their navy both of their own citizens and those of other nations, persecution of their own people for not being of the official religion after the King kicked out the church and forms his own because he didn't like their rules. And I'm sure there are more.

Basically no matter what country you chose you can find some pretty appalling things they have done. Yes Nazi Germany was pretty bad but they aren't the only ones. And to blame other eras of German history because of what one group did is pretty short sighted. It's like the people who still want to hold the US accountable for slavery. Yes we had slaves, most western countries did. Slavery ended here almost 150 years ago and there is not a single person alive today who was a slave. I would be surprised if there is anyone alive today whose grandparents were slaves but it is still used today as an excuse for why we should be blamed today for what our great great grandparents did.

But these are imperial german coins, from a different government. They were minted well before the Nazi party taking over. Because of one era in a country's time where bad people took over, you would deem the whole country bad? These coins have no association with the Nazis, and therfore I think it is irrational to label the coins evil because they are from the country. That would be like never collecting U.S. coins of any type, because of our treatment of the Indians. I caution you to not jump to conclusions about them without learning, however, it is ultimately your choice, and I will say no more to contradict your ideas about these coins if you choose to continue in those you currently have.

It's Germany, and it wasn't Germany as a whole but a select group of Germans. Not all Germans supported the Nazis and Hitler's agenda.

    gbroke,

Glad you enjoy the coins. You seemed like someone who appreciates this series and I hoped they would fit in with the rest of your already very nice collection. I enjoyed seeing the pictures you took of the coins I sent your way. Just seeing the quality of the pictures you took makes it worth it for me. Coin photography is an area where I lack skill.

    Cointalk members,

You all are lucky to have folks like gbroke on this forum. I don't post a lot here as I don't feel I have much to contribute. I do read the postings here much more than I post. In the short time I have been a member here, I have noticed that gbroke is a member who is constantly helping folks out and answering questions, especially when it comes to pre-WWI German coinage. He's a smart guy and the board is better for his experience.

If you have a chance to make the hobby just a bit more enjoyable for someone, give it a shot. Pay if forward.

Finally, thanks to those who voiced their support of military service. I have been in uniform for 15 years now, I'll never be the guy with the deepest pockets, but I can't imagine myself doing anything else. Thanks

I was hoping you would see this thread Mike. Thanks again! They are spectacular, and the generosity is what really makes me all warm and fuzzy. Good luck with your service and thank you.
If there is anything you need or I could possibly help with, please don't hesitate to ask. I hope I can return the favor some day.
