I'm in the same camp as well Lemmyk, My original post was not about Congress although I know that's where it "starts" as it were. My post concerned "insulting" the Native Americans once again. If we are to have true "Native American Dollars" they should be designed by TRUE Native Americans. I may be pushing the "politics and religion" boundries here but so be it. In God We Trust does not mean a lot to a "non-converted" Native American. They have a vastly different believe system and it worked quite well actually. E Pluribus Unum doesn't really apply either. Don't think too many Native Americans were speaking Latin before foreigners landed on the shores. My stepmother was Sioux raised on a reservation. She and my father (of German decent) "converted" as it were. His idea I can assure you. When she went to see the "Great White Buffalo" in Wisconsin many years ago he was incensed. Of course he was, it wasn't their religion. What does the "Great White Buffalo" stand for? Peace among nations - now there's a horrible concept. If Congress and the Mint want to truly represent Native Americans then they should let them TRULY design the coins. Would probably be a much bigger hit anyway and possibly teach some people some real history. Mods, edit if you must. Had to get it off my chest as it were. clembo
