Starting off on decimals, I'll go 5.8

That is almost a monster in my view but the area around the E and the star holds it back

    Great colors.

Does the scale stop at 6 or run to 6.9?

    I'm at a 5.1.

The toning breaks bother me a little, especially the area on the cap, and I don't really understand this toning pattern. The coin has what appears to be target toning on the obverse where the toning progresses as you move towards the peripheries and there are even concentric bands of color. However, target toning is typically achieved via album storage and both side of the coins are toned. This coin has target toning on the obverse but the reverse is untoned like we would see on a bag toned Morgan. That said, the color progressions and elevation chromatics look great. Perhaps this is an EOR.

I would bet on end roll toning. I had the same questions, myself.

Due to the color breaks on the obverse I'll give it a 5.3

5.0 for me. As others mentioned, the toning breaks are detracting/distracting.

Yeah, I see it as a 6. Once again, one I no longer own. Photo is way old, with lousy pixilation, from back in the early 2000’s. I owned it as a 65 in a 4th generation PCGS holder. Sold it in 2015, for moon money, after buying it for $300 in 2006. It was reholdered, and made 66, and has sold again in private auction for 5 figures. There are some minor toning breaks, but the target tone at least as I remember was very intense and quite nice. Almost certain it was end roll toning, as Paul pointed out, if it were album toning, it would be double sided. A low monster (not oxymoronic), as it should really have both sides toned at that level. Once again, no skin in the game, anymore, so fire away with more evals.
i was never attached to the coin. While I see it as a monster, it did leave me cold in some respects. Sorry for the digression.

Quite tame compared to the $130k Franklin and some other examples. :p

That is the highly toned Morgan world now. All of the Northern Lights Morgans went for $5,000-25,000. That is the market in the last decade.

I am not in that market, anymore. Got them before the toned Morgans went insane. Sold at the middle of the hot market. Into toned Jeffersons now, and UK coins. On this thread we are learning from each other.

I love it. I consider it end roll too. 5.6 I’d give it. That intoned space Is why I’m not higher
