This large fine silver coin represents the main series of Pyu coinage, originating in Sri Ksetra at the height of Pyu dominance. This coin represents the apex of Pyu coin production. The vast majority of these coins were recovered from the Khin ba relic chamber (dated 7th/ 8th century AD) at Sri Ksetra during the 1910/11 and 1926/27 excavations. Some singular finds have been reported from Saigon, Vietnam and at various locations in Western Thailand. These coins were discovered in the relic chamber along with a very worn and holed example of the Bhadrapitha /Srivatsa Class A coin, while all the coins of the Class C type were in very good condition. Attesting to their chronology. It is also important to note that all the coins in Class C have an extremely high level of construction and weight regularity. Beautiful, especially the coin in the top photographs. I learned so much my head might explode. Do I thank you for that?!? I think so. Thanks @Ancientnoob.
Love it - the 1/4 unit of the final coinage - so awesome. You made me go out and find one to go with my Full unit.
"The Monster of Pyu" sounds like something ladymarcovan might call me after I've released chili dawg fumes or other noxious emissions in the bed. 'Tis a wonder she hasn't divorced me by now.
Awesome coin. Wanted one since the first time I saw those Burma, Pyu coins. One of these days, I will get one.
