I actually got a 1909 VDB back in change from a gas station last year. It was severly coroded though. For a time, i thought it was a 1909 s vdb, but the "S" is appearently a phantom "S" But still, it was fun to look at it, staring for long periods of time at the supposed mint mark that wasnt there, and sharing the coin here on cointalk! Heres the thread w/ pics, as im not able to upload pictures where im at http://www.cointalk.com/t121539/ Still, it was a great find!
1912 d Despite the fact that it is not very valuable, it is one of my favorite coins. I actually had it slabbed by PCGS.
A few weeks ago I got a 1956 dime in change during a purchase of beer. Silver and beer??? You can't beat it!
I found a 1953 dime in the washing machine, wasn't mine b/c I check all the dates on my change, but I couldn't help but take it.
Yesterday I got some nice state quarter doubled ears in change, Oklahoma being the best of them, two 2006P roosevelt's with major die chips (2 different die stages), and a 2011 roosevelt with die chips. Also got almost two full rolls of 2011 lincolns that would have been uncirculated had I gotten to the gas station a few minutes earlier because they had just opened the bank rolls!
i've found forigen coins in several resturants including a german 10 phenning with the natzi emblem on it dated 1938. i have also found a transit token in my friends change jar. i have found several buffalo nickels two of them didn't have a date and one was a 1917. i found a 1984 double die ear cent, a 1950 d nickel, and several silver quarters. i always go through my familys change, especially when they come in cause i have family from out west, during the 1995 double die penny craze, i found it in my uncles pocket change!!!! im still looking for plenty wheaties, every time i run my register at work i usually find some weird unusual coins, i found a 1911 wheatie but the liberty is missing, a 1994 quarter with no mm, a liberty nickel dated 1885 and it looks like the last 8 & 5 is doubled. i love running the register but my boss is always yelling at me to close the till......LOL!!! but it helps if u run a register.
