I made a major step forward tonight in my quest to complete the entire run of Boone commems. I scored a '65 1937 P at a reasonable price. I'll post it here when it arrives in a few days. When I was putting together my Booker T. Washington and Carver Washington sets the constraint's and parameters were nothing less than a '65 grade and only PCGS slabs. With the Boones I'm going to be a bit more liberal. All holders will be included and allowed in the set. All grade levels, depending on price criteria will be allowed. In other words.....it's gonna be a mongrel set with no top pops to speak of. My set, my way.
What a lovely story and I agree with both of you not wanting to go back. In 51 years it’s changed and best left in the past. There are plenty of new places to go and discover together.
Why is there ever never a problem? It's always something. The latest incident involves a couple of missing chapters from a book she's writing. I assure her that there's no skullduggery afoot and that she has simply misplaced the lost parts of the manuscript. 'No, you've done something with them as you were the last person seen with those chapters'. 'I never had them in my hands', was my reply. She insists on my culpability. 'You did something with them', she insists. Why are women like this? I had nothing to do with the disappearance of her missing chapters. She's probably nestled them in a reference book somewhere in this house, whereabouts unknown. I found the bloody things early this morning, under a pile of books and cast asides. Even though by profession she's a librarian, she really has no adeptness at cataloging things properly. Even if they are incomplete........
I don't know of anyone who has been blessed as I, and my children just want my estate now, in cash. The significant-other in my life with advanced Altzheimers is a rich wonderful/beautiful woman! She did the finances for a law firm, but asked that I take P.O.A. for her when her daughter had her credibility tested. We laugh at the world in my fortress with her guardian pure Black German Shepherd, or when we go for rides on my Trikes or in the Sport Vehicles. Mine and her family don't realize or believe that when a single owner here with a >$75000 estate dies, it is immediately liquidated by government if not in an acceptable trust. We couldn't marry, as a requirement is complete tested sanity! The heirs who refused assistance, receive nothing! Being >80Y.O. can be a Great Time!! JMHO
Just got notification that my social security number has recently appeared on the dark web. I immediately contacted the three credit monitoring agency's and initiated a 'freeze'. Total and unenduring nonsense ensues. Lord knows what ever other hijinks' will be at hand.....
Two Boones and a Booker locked in on my scope. Fair chance on the Booker. Slim hope for the Boones but I'll keep you folks posted.....
I doubt there are any SSNs that didn't get leaked. Consider that all the news stories say "billions" of numbers were leaked, and that since an SSN is a nine-digit number, there are only one billion possible numbers. All the same, freezing your credit records is just good sense these days.
I didn't win the Booker. No matter, I really didn't need it and it was in the wrong holder for my liking. Still, it would have been nice to get it at the price I bid (which was insanely low for the grade and year). It was more impulse than reason that inspired my action. I allow my heart to run rampant at times but the 'fatty' holder probably would have gotten on my nerves, eventually, and I most likely would have, (in time) sold it. I did, however, win the two Boone's that I bid on. That was a bit of a surprise. Just luck, I suppose, as I set a price level and let it ride. I'll post 'em here when they arrive.
.There's a bloody mouse in the house. The stealthy ornery bastard eludes my every attempt to catch him. War declared, I initially tried the humane way of capturing the little pustule but he has beaten my feeble undertakings of such, so now I must escalate to more desperate measures. No prisoners.......and I ain't gonna resort to Nathan Lane tactics, but I'm gonna get the little devil.
Back to the Boones. Two have arrived and two more are soon to be arrived. This endeavor of mine is fast becoming a very expensive proposition, and indeed I find I must slow down a bit. The wife is suspicious of my 'cloak and dagger' measures of concealment. Pictures to follow if I survive.........
Another last minute stab at an auction tonight, and I wind up the winner. '38 Boone. This really has to stop. I told myself that last week when I scored the other two Boones, but I'm seemingly loosing control over myself when it comes to Boone's. OK. Sit back, take a deep breath and repeat after me (am I becoming schizophrenic?) I shall refrain from bidding on auctions......I shall refrain from bidding on auctions....at least until next week, or until my wife stops me (she's asleep). I did shoot a ton of photogs of all of my Boones, including the three that I had in my collection already, and the subsequent Boones purchased after my decision to do a date and mint mark set. Post processing is a bitch, but I'm nearing an end to the ordeal. Hopefully I'll get them posted tomorrow. I know, I know, I've said that before, but this time is assured......hopefully.
