But why fake this one? The FTR Galleys don't seem to be very rare or expensive?

 

That's why I probably never thought much about its authenticity. Why some people go to the trouble and expense of making these things makes me think people, like Becker, just did it for the challenge and fun of it. Fortunately I only paid $10 for it so I figure I got that much out of it in research and education.

For bonus points - can you guess who I bought it from? Somebody who LOVES all things yellow!

(I was young and naive then, and couldn't tell the difference between a sandy patina and makeup!)
