Actually I get them on subscription for my own collection so I don't have to worry about ordering them. For your information, I DID order this last couple when they WERE still available. At least the mints website said they were available. Then my order status suddenly changed from "in process" to "backorder" where it has stood for over 2 months. Even when my order was on placed on backorder the website continued to state they were still available. Maybe you should know the facts, or offer to update the website, before calling someone lazy!

I might very well be wrong, but I disagree that the Mint would have made an endless supply. In theory, there was an open-ended production - in other words, no pre-set mintage ceiling - but these coins must be struck prior to the end of the year, and since the Mint must gear up to start making the next year's coins in December there was in effect a mintage limit. The problem is, the Mint does not give advance notice when they will shut it off. The same thing happened last year and that is why so many were caught of guard when the 2006 W SEs were shut off.

The Mint really makes these coins to meet a reasonable "anticipated" demand, and when the calendar runs out or if there is another factor (such as running out of cases), demand is no longer a consideration.

I offer this as a general perspective on the Mint's minting practices, not as further commentary on who did or did not procrastinate in ordering 2007W SEs. People should know that "no mintage limit" does not mean they will be able to order whenever they want to.
