I ask this question do you settle for example, to start I am currently looking for perfect
examples on most popular bullion coins, the next step for me is Palladium, but its
extremely hard to find a graded piece did find this coin, but it being a 69 doesn't
really fit what I am looking for, so should I buy it ?

Also getting in to the more general aspects of this thread, lets say your favorite your favorite color is blue but they only have a white car in stock but the dealer has offered you a $3,000 discount if you but the the white one would you settle ?

You know you could repaint the car more than once for 3k, so that's not settling. That would be stupid to turn down if all things are equal

And the white car blends in better, doesn't screen I'M speeding.
ie, the cops don't even give them a second look, unless you're really being reckless.

If it's really important to me I don't settle. I wait until the thing I really want comes along (not joking, I searched for my blue car with white interior for over a year before I found one). I know I won't be happy if I settle in these situations...I've made that mistake before.

I guess it really depends on the situation
but I would have to say 9 out of 10 times
I don’t , though sometimes it just makes
sense, in the current case I am going to wait.

I shopped for a 2014 white Toyota Camry for about a year.
Last place I looked had one with 30k miles.
Had the sales guy send pics and asked if any issues?
I drove 500 Miles to look at a car that didn't meet my expectations.
The sales girl found a Champaign colored one the next day that did and I bought it.

    The Color is fine.
Great condition, ONE owner, well maintained by the dealership and 12k miles.

    I'm good with it.
The only thing I've noticed is people don't seem to see this Champaign color as well as White and pull out in front of me on a regular basis.
Didn't have that problem with the last Champaign colored car/ it was a little more on the gold side though. Screenshot_20220514-111138.png

I was driving a Champaign 1997 Nissan Altima that I bought at a dealers auction in 1998 with 21k miles.
I sold it with 185k miles when a One owner private party 2001 Camry came up with 128k.
I knew the owners since new, well maintained and if it hiccuped it went into the shop to be looked at.
The white one owner 2001 Camry had 198k on it when I sold it for $1000 more then I paid because I found the 2014 Camry.

I hunted for a 2014 because it's the last year before Toyota went with the large mouth bass looking front grills.
Just couldn't get past those grills....
Even the sales girl asked DO YOU even look at the front end of the car??
I said YUP every day when I walk out of the house.

Somethings you just don't want to settle for.:D

I have the 2016W ER gold mercury dime and 2016W ER gold SLQ in NGC sp70.
I was looking to get the NGC sp70 in the Kennedy half but the prices went way up.
Could have gotten the SP69, but that sorta defeats the purpose.
I'll wait for one in my price range to come around.
Then it has to have the same label...
Plenty of other things to spend $$ on.

I think using cars as an analogy is an interesting approach here because you can lump people into 2 different groups. You have "car people" (meaning car enthusiasts) and people who view cars as simply a vessel to take them from A to B. I am in the former...I love cars so I am very particular. When I bought my current daily driver I knew exactly what I wanted. I wanted a low mileage (40K or less) 2017-18 BMW M3 with a DCT transmission in yas marina blue with a silverstone interior. That was what I wanted and I knew if I fell short on any of those features I would not be happy. So, I searched for a year before I found the right car...because I get joy out of driving my car. It's not simply transportation.

The latter group of car owners want something (usually) that will serve a more utility only purpose. That can mean they need something that is reliable...or can haul a certain amount of cargo and so on. They often aren't super picky about color and such.

I think modern bullion can fall into two similar types of owners too. There are those who's first interest in collecting or those who's first interest is stacking. Now...most are a blend of both but where is the priority for the given person? If the primary goal is collecting then the most pristine example is the only that will do. If it's simply an investment to be stacked than this is far less important.

Determining which group you are in will make it clear which coin is best for you.

Depends on how much money you're willing to throw at things. My wife probably has 25 pairs of 'black pumps' that are all 'different' and yet none of them are 'exactly' what she is looking for, and she is always on the hunt for more. I will watch and wait literally for years for the "there's the one" moment before buying something; but I'm not material goods driven, it's more the chase than the having in some ways. What do I truly "need"? Not much. So, if you get the MS69 knowing that you'll always want the MS70, you should wait. If you got $$ to throw around, it will never hurt to own both. ;)

My thoughts exactly, could have gotten
MS 69 Palladium Eagle at AMEX but chose to wait for the 70 and found this
    one.
