What legal requirements ? Ten years ago I was in a Miata club, and we were thinking about incorporating to avoid personal liability if someone was injured on a club trip, or autocrossing at the local race track. I don't see a similar issue with a coin club, unless there is a concern of a robbery during a meeting. ND, thanks for all of your inputs. I appreciate all the effort you and the other moderators make to keep this site informative, civil, and active.
Well certain legalities exist in everything. If your club charges dues, there must be a treasurer. If your club rents a spot at the local library or restaurant, there are liabilty issues. In this day and age people sue for the slightest thing. Next thing you know, someone has dropped some big heavy Morgan dollar on their toe, and want to sue you and that club. Just check into your local jurisdiction to make sure you are covered. Thanks for the kind words. I know that all of the moderators do their best to keep the spam out, and we try to do our best to answer any questions. All of the members here make this great, so we can't take any credit for that. Peter has created the best forum that I have found.
Our club has carried a policy as long as I've been a member. We hold an annual show, and we must have insurance to cover any accidents or other problems that may arise at the show, the policy also covers club meetings. Joe
Or someone spills coffee on the floor and someone else slips and falls, or even gets hot coffee spilled on him! Unfortunately, in our litigious society, the club could be looking at lawsuits, which are expensive to defend, no matter how righteous the organization.
