On another note the earlier prizes never got mailed, I had them packed and set them on the counter and well... And let me be the first to say thank you very much for the contest Aaron. We'll be talking about this for years to come, regardless of where we finished.

And you promised to tell the story about how you came across this gold coin, too.

 

ahh thanks for reminding me... Quite simple actually, but kinda unbelievable... Just before I retired as a bank manager in 1997 one of my tellers took it in a deposit at face value from a business customer who included it in his daily deposits. My teller brought it to me and said " I don't have a place for this in my change drawer" I smiled and pulled a five dollar bill from my wallet and bought it on the spot! (very happily I might add) I hope this coin brings some smiles to the new owner, now this coin has at least 2 stories to share!

 

thanks for the great contest... I am Twiggs certainly deserves it after her hours of pouring over your website, I only managed to last 15 minutes on it ... congrats Twiggs!

 

Wow... Almost 600 posts in about a month... covering 40 pages... countless man hours from contestants, and a "few" by the host... All in all... I'd say it was a success, thanks to everyone who participated and made this a fun event, if nothing else, I hope it was entertaining and that maybe you all had a little bit of fun!!!

Aaron, I think that you have not only showed generosity in your time as well as your pocket! What a great contest! We will be talking about this one for years!!!! Gonna be a tough one to top! When it started I was really new here, and it helped me to get to know a few of you.

Someone needs to document the stats. You know... pages in this thread, number of people that posted, and how short a period of time it happened over!

I think I will try to figure out a good game to have for our next contest. I already have ideas for prizes.
